Why I’m no longer talking about Weight.

Without going into too much detail, this year I watched my closest friend battle and struggle to recover from anorexia. An intelligent, fun and energetic girl is now the shadow of what she once was, and I feel as though I’ve genuinely lost her. It’s made me think twice about ever mentioning weight. Or food. Or anything to do with body image.

As humans, we are conditioned to compare ourselves to others. It’s all we do, and it’s often the basis of many relationships. What begins as work-place gossip or one snarky comment often paves the way for a friendship (or…
